There are 4 ways you can buy travel money online with Sainsbury’s for your holiday cash

 

  1. In store at any branch with a Sainsbury’s travel money Bureau 
  2. Click and collect foreign currency for the next working day (if ordered before 2pm). Does not apply to all currencies
  3. Buy online and have delivered to your home before your trip
  4. Purchase a prepaid Travel Money Card, ideal for frequent travellers and larger purchases

Sainsbury's Travel Money Card

Sainsbury’s offer a pre-paid contactless Mastercard for 22 currencies, easily managed on the Sainsbury’s Travel Money Mastercard App. If you need money abroad, there are no ATM fees on withdrawals or at retailers.

 
The following limits apply:
Total balance at any one time: £5,000
Maximum load and reload over 12 months: £30,000
Minimum load and reload: £50
Maximum ATM withdrawal: £500 in 24 hours
Purchases in shops, restaurants etc: £3000 in 24 hours.
 

Please note there are the following fees:

  • 2% fee for loads and reloads into GBP
  • £2 per month inactivity fee (after 12 months)
  • 5.75% foreign exchange fee.
 

The Travel Money Card (previously called Cash Passport) is issued by Prepay Technologies Limited.

Orders for collection at any Sainsbury’s Travel Money bureau are subject to a maximum total value of £4,500 per person per day.

Online Click and Collect orders need to be between £100 and £2,500 equivalent.

Please note that destination countries will have limits to how much cash you can bring in.

Cancelling the order will incur a £10 fee.

When collecting your online order from an Sainsbury’s store, you need to be over the age of 18 and bring:

  • Valid photo ID – either a valid passport or full UK photographic driving licence, which matches the cardholder’s details (provisional driving licences not accepted)
  • The payment card you used to place the order, and order details
  • For home delivery orders, a signature will be required on delivery.

J Sainsbury plc is currently the second largest supermarket chain in the UK.

 

Sainsbury’s was established in 1869, by John James Sainsbury as a retailer of fresh foods in a shop on Drury Lane in Covent Garden, London.

 

Packaged groceries were introduced in 1903, and  every shop offered home delivery. It offered centrally located shops and a trading philosophy of “Quality perfect, prices lower”.

 

Inspired by a visit to the US, Alan Sainsbury was convinced that the future for supermarkets lay with self-service and the availability of car parking.

 

The first self-service branch opened in Croydon in 1950.
