The most efficient way to buy currency
Your transaction is conducted directly with Carats, who will hold and manage your currency. The Money4Travel Marketplace operates transparently and never takes a commission on your transactions.
Our Commitment :
At Carats, we value your loyalty and want to give back for every transaction you make. That’s why we’ve introduced loyalty points (we call them Pips), a simple and rewarding way to get more from your currency exchange. Every time you exchange currency with Carats in the Marketplace, you’ll earn loyalty Pips, which can be converted into cash when you make your next purchase.
We want your currency to go further, so we offer competitive rates which are updated on a daily basis, and which will beat competitors within a 10 minute drive.
Planning a getaway can feel overwhelming, but sorting out your travel money doesn’t have to be. Purchasing ahead of your trip ensures you have cash on hand as soon as you arrive, eliminating the need to search for an ATM, deal with card fees, or settle for poor exchange rates.
We recommend arranging your currency before heading to the airport, where exchange rates are often less competitive. Secure a better deal in the Money4Travel Marketplace and collect in-bureau for peace of mind and extra savings!
Exchange rates are updated daily to reflect market changes.
Carats does not charge commission.
Place your order in the Marketplace and collect in the bureau.
It can vary with a few days depending on which currency you order; check the order confirmation for full details.
You can buy any amount between £250 and £2,500 per day.
Innovation comes in many forms. Some offer real additional benefits to consumers, while others are just repackaged versions of existing services. Here are some notable travel money innovations: decide for yourself which category they fall into!
Post Office Travel Money was one of the early adopters of zero commission, aiming to provide competitive rates and make it easier for travellers to get foreign currency without worrying about extra fees.
While many of us have forgotten the days when commission was always charged, some bureaux still highlight it in their marketing: “Here is a fee we don’t charge….”. We all know that a margin is included in the rate rather than shown separately, which is simply a different method of operating, offering no overall cost benefit.
Price matching is a competitive strategy used by Tesco Travel Money and others. The rules are clear and fair, but it requires you to shop around and present your claim in person at a Tesco bureau. Essentially, you need to take the time to visit another bureau before going to claim your price match at a Tesco Travel Money bureau.
Many online travel money retailers offer free home delivery. A minimum currency amount is usually required, but the distribution is handled by Royal Mail as Special Delivery, which is secure, but not cheap. If you’re working from home, this might be a good alternative to visiting your local bureau.
The buy-back guarantee locks in the purchase rate for any surplus currency you want to sell back after your trip. There are usually reasonable conditions, and the fee covers some of the risk of currency fluctuations. If you buy currency as a buffer for unexpected expenses and expect to bring some back, this could be handy. Just remember to keep your receipt!
Some travel money retailers offer cashback schemes. These are essentially marketing programmes that provide financial rewards to shoppers and promoters of travel money services. However, it’s not uncommon for it to take weeks for consumers to receive their cashback.
Supermarkets and high street stores widely use loyalty programmes like Nectar, Rewards, or Clubcard. However, these programmes do not offer points for travel money purchases. Instead, they offer improved rates for members.
At Money4Travel, we don’t charge consumers anything. Instead, we charge a small fee to the Exchangers (registered bureaux) selling currency in our marketplace.
We offer price matching and take it a step further by improving the rates and providing the cash benefit upfront. No need to go anywhere—just open our app on your mobile or PC to get the best rate in your neighbourhood. We offer bureau collection only. Additionally, we proudly present the first loyalty programme for travel money in the UK. With participating Exchangers, you’ll earn points (Pips) to redeem the next time you purchase currency from the same bureau.
Stay tuned for more updates and innovations!
